How to Choose a Bathroom Faucet

Bathroom

Purchasing a new bathroom faucet is an exciting refresh as it has the potential to transform your bathroom space, however, it can also be a challenging decision with several different factors to consider. At American Standard, we help make this process an easy one by providing you with many beautiful options to suit your unique design style preferences. We’ve put together a list of the main things that you should consider when looking for a bathroom faucet that’s right for you.
Bathroom

1. Determine the installation type

Before you start looking at different faucet designs and finishes, it’s important to take into consideration how many hole openings you have in your sink (this step can be ignored if you are purchasing a brand new sink and/or vanity). This will determine if you require a single-hole faucet, centerset faucet, widespread faucet, or even a wall mount faucet.

Single-hole faucets combine the spout and mixing handles into one unit that requires only one drilled sinkhole. It’s important to consider that for retrofits, some models do include a bottom plate that covers existing three-hole openings, so this may be an option as well depending on what you’re looking for. We suggest choosing a single-hole faucet if you have a smaller sink so that you can use the extra space to your advantage.

Centerset faucets fit three-hole sinks and have either a single lever or two handles mounted on a plate. On the other hand, widespread faucets have three separate pieces: two handles and a spout. We suggest selecting a widespread faucet if you have a larger sink as these more prominent faucets become beautiful focal points in the bathroom.

Wall mount faucets provide you with more space on the countertop, which can be used for additional storage or decor, or can be kept clear for a clean and sophisticated look.

2. Decide on ideal features

There are many different features to consider when choosing your perfect bathroom faucet. Do you prioritize a water-saving feature? Or perhaps a pull-down function? It’s important to consider what you value most.

Our bathroom sink faucets are WaterSense-certified for high performance and water efficiency. Utilizing pressure-compensating aerators, these faucets deliver a powerful water flow that uses only 4.5 litres of water per minute, saving 45% more water than standard models. With American Standard faucets, you’ll never have to sacrifice style for water saving.

3. Choose the style and finish

Now comes the fun part - choosing the right style and finish for your faucet. From contemporary or traditional to transitional or modern, there are many different faucet design styles to choose from. If you’re looking for a sleek and simple design, we recommend our Studio S Collection of modern yet classic fixtures. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, we recommend our Delancey Faucet Collection featuring authentic heritage-inspired design.

Our faucets are also available in an array of different finishes, from Polished Chrome to Matte Black and everything in between. When determining the appropriate finish, we suggest looking at the shape of the sink, the edge of the countertop, the mirror, the style of the door and even the lighting fixtures in your bathroom to determine which faucet finish will complement the room in its entirety.
