Think Green

For generations we have always tried to choose fixtures that fit our budget, style and worked well. Now as we are more concerned about our impact upon the environment around us, we are also adding water efficiency to the list of requirements when choosing bathroom fixtures. We need fixtures that have a proven track record, are durable, we can afford, and doesn’t cost the planet.

American Standard is fulfilling those requirements as they move into their 101st year, with water-wise solutions. FloWise high efficiency products meet all local water efficiency rebates by saving the most water possible, and look great in any style of bathroom. It’s easy for me to make the recommendation that these products will help save water in your home and reduce your impact upon the planet.

  • Water use in the 20th century increased more than sixfold, and continues to increase about twice as fast as the human population is increasing.

Responsible Bathroom

For drinking, sanitation, food preparation and bathing, humans need about 70 litres per day. Canadians use 300-400 litres each per day. Water use in Canada has increased by 25.7% since 1980. Meanwhile water use in OECD countries has increased 4.5%. Showers and toilets use about 65% of our houehold water. Switching from a 13 litre to a 4.3 litre toilet will pay for itself within a year. Plus, government grants are available to help you switch.

Our new H2Option™ FloWise™ Toilet saves 25% more water than conventional dual-flush toilets. Its jetted siphonic under-rim action results in a nice clean bowl while saving about 5,300 litres per year. An average family can save 125,000 litres per year with water efficient American Standard toilets, showers & faucets. A 5 minute shower can use 100 litres of water.
